I was chatting with someone who recently, got the
task to fundraise for local community.
While she was originally up for the role, she had no
clue on the amount of work she has do to.
So after we spoke, I was reflecting back…
You see, when there is an event, it takes a lot of
hard work, attention to detail, personal skills, perseverance and coordination to
make it run smoothly. Those who are wedding planners, event managers, videographers,
photographers, musicians & Master of Ceremony- they have a very tough job. To
be able to arrange a successful event, big or small, it’s not that easy. But that’s
not the point.
So my friend got this new task to ask for
fundraising for the charity organization.
Her first couple of days, she got rejected… And it
was not a nice way of being rejected, but rather, without consideration to her.
It was rejection added with being rude, even though, she is very polite and
approachable
This is where presentation skills come into play. If
she had practiced and done some sort of public speaking skills in her past, she
would feel more confident to promote the company’s event and hence, share with others
on how they could benefit by contributing.
Now that she has this responsibility, she is getting a bit scared…
You see, the same experience can also be share with
other consultants and sales people. These people, if they are good, they are
very confident (by that I don’t mean pushy or arrogant) in what they have to
offer. Those who truly believe in success, also know that public speaking is
primordial.
- This skill, can help you in your job interview and
land the dream job.
- The same skill, can help land you the major client
account your competitor has.
- And the same skill, can make a woman feel more
confident in saying NO to suggestions that are presented to her. And this my friend, can help you sometimes in situations of Life or Death.
Whatever ever it is you want to get, having
presentation skills will help you. Trust me.
